Fours DIY divers 1940s

With much of the decade dominated by World War II, the 1940s have not gone down in history as the happiest of times. But the 40s had much more to them than war. Swing dancing, jazz, fabulous fashion, classic film, and even the first computer all helped to define the decade as well.

People of the 1940s did the best they could to smile through the tough times. Take a look at these photos from 40s to see what we mean.

  1. Thanks so much for this very illuminating glance into the domestic side of the 1940s–these photos are priceless. I found out about it through GP Cox and have reblogged it on my WP blog: PT Boat Red–about my father’s days on the Navy’s PT Boats in WWII. I’m sure my readers will thoroughly enjoy it and I’m glad to share your fine work with my network. I’ll be sure to follow your work going forward–thanks again! Steve Stahley

  2. I came here from pacific paratrooper blog – and wanted to say this was enlightening – the students drinking coke felt like a staged ad – but it was still good – and s many fun photos – peace!
